I need to write about technology to help friends and family. I often help people personally but I both want a more permanent repository of information and something that can reach more people than personal visits.
Although I appreciate Youtube video content for both information and entertainment, I am not a video creator. I think text with a few illustrations is good enough for what I want to share. Text also works better for search engines, and maybe for ads.
I want to own and control my content. I don't want to give it away on social media for the big boys like Meta to make money. If there is any ad revenue to be had in the future, I want it. I don't want to lose my content because someone changes their business model or decides I am breaking a rule.
